Despite the fact that education has proven to be best tool to break the cycle of poverty, many children in developing countries especially Africa still lack access to basic education. According to UNESCO Education For All, there is an estimated 250 million around the world that are unable to read and write even after spending three more years in school. In addition, in 2012, 58 million children were out of school. Moreover, in Sub-Saharan Africa, 56% of girls were out of school around the same time. The barriers to education in the developing world can be attributed to many factors such as lack of public schools, not enough resources (school supplies), and lack of funding. Those existing schools lack the capacity to provide high-quality education. In Guinea, for example, there is a total laissez-faire regarding education. The government does not provide funding to build schools and children are left to fend for themselves most of the time selling fruits and vegetables.
